TAKEE home

About

TAKEE is an Australian indie-pop artist based in Melbourne, known for his emotionally charged songwriting, versatile musicality, and multidimensional approach to the creative industries.

Drawing from a musical foundation that began with classical violin at age nine, he later expanded into guitar and songwriting as a teenager. Inspired by his mother's love for traditional Bengali music and her skill on the harmonium and keyboard, TAKEE fuses these textures with the rhythmic storytelling of artists like Ed Sheeran, NF, and The Script. The result is a commercially resonant blend of intimacy, vulnerability, and genre-blending production.

His dedication to his craft is relentless. In January 2026, TAKEE completed a gruelling 30-day songwriting challenge, writing and publishing a new track daily to build unbreakable creative discipline. Day ten produced the single “your name,” which he officially launched in August 2026 with a sold-out, 150-capacity show and music video premiere at Trainscendance in Collingwood. This massive celebration and event also coincided with his birthday.

“The key to getting through the songwriting challenge was sitting down every day and working those creative muscles anyway,” said TAKEE.

“I couldn’t rely on inspiration alone. I picked a story I wanted to tell and just started writing until it was done. Completing this challenge taught me that I can do absolutely anything that I set my mind to.”

Live

On stage, home and away

A seasoned live performer, TAKEE is a familiar face in Melbourne’s live circuit, from intimate solo sets to full band shows. He's played at iconic venues like The Espy, Bergy Bandroom, Brunswick Artists Bar, Mamma Chen's, and more.

Internationally, he has taken his music to stages like the Bluebird Café and the Commodore Grille in Nashville, Mackenzie’s Tunes & Tonics in Washington DC, The Lost Church in San Francisco, Ju Ju Social Club in LA, and more. TAKEE even found himself sleeping on the same couch Quentin Tarantino had once occupied in Los Angeles, a story that highlights his adventurous spirit and dedication to chasing music wherever it leads.

This global ambition is backed by serious industry groundwork. Two days before completing his Bachelor of Music with specialisation in Contemporary Performance (Voice) at JMC Academy in Melbourne in August 2026, TAKEE flew to Brisbane for BIGSOUND, the largest music festival and conference in the southern hemisphere. After submitting his final university assignments directly from QMusic HQ (Queensland Music) and completing his degree the day after, he embedded himself with the festival's production, conference, and special events teams, gaining hands-on insight into large-scale music industry event coordination, planning, and problem-solving.

He attended a masterclass with Erin Workman from LACM (Los Angeles College of Music) at JMC's Brisbane campus, earning direct songwriting feedback. Rather than flying straight home to Melbourne, he turned the return trip into a coastal busking tour through the Gold Coast, Byron Bay, and Sydney, only stopping when his suitcase full of equipment finally gave out.

The next generation

TAKEE’s career also spans teaching and mentoring. Having worked as a music teacher, he has shared his passion and skills with the next generation, continuing his commitment to fostering creativity in young people. At JMC Academy, he’s been nominated to mentor new students by providing guidance, peer support, and practical advice to assist their successful transition into academic and campus life, while acting as a positive role model.

He became a representative by promoting JMC Academy, fostering a strong sense of community, and supporting new and prospective students. The role involves engaging with future students, assisting with orientation and events, and sharing authentic student experiences across marketing and social media platforms. Behind the scenes

His artistic pursuits further extend into acting and composing for film and television. He has appeared in several short films and music videos, earning him an IMDb credit and adding yet another dimension to his creative expression.

At Confest’s 50th anniversary in Autumn 2026, TAKEE facilitated the HIVE, coordinated food deliveries, supported budgeting, and helped oversee meal preparation for around 500 volunteers. His team had an approved budget of $20K AUD, which was used to buy stock for the festival. As a Ranger Lead and field ranger, TAKEE responded to incidents, liaised with site operations, and assigned teams on the ground. He also became a co-op shareholder, contributing to the sustainability and future direction of the organisation.

Behind the scenes, TAKEE has also contributed to the industry through business development at DJ Central Records, an internship with Tibi Access (supporting accessibility in music), and as a sound technician at festivals like Tanglewood, Renaissance, and Esoteric. He began making lyric videos at 14, which have collectively earned nearly 2 million views.

In October 2026, almost as soon as he completed his music degree at JMC Academy, TAKEE was hired by his former university lecturer in a Community & Partnerships role at Futureative. He bridges industry partnerships and cultivates a vibrant, highly engaged community, driving marketing, outreach, and partnership acquisition while building meaningful relationships with creators, brands, and key industry stakeholders.

He continues to evolve as a creative entrepreneur, making music that connects and inspires across generations and cultures.
